Razer to Acquire Controller Gear Brand

Gaming products maker Razer in Irvine said it plans to acquire console accessories brand Controller Gear of Temecula.

Razer, which is headquartered both in Irvine and Singapore, did not specify a price for the purchase, which is expected to close by the end of March and is subject to customary closing conditions.

Controller Gear specializes in creating licensed peripherals and merchandise for popular console brands including Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo.

Razer said the acquisition will strengthen its position in the fast-growing premium console market.
